Terms of Service for the r/aircanada Community Statistics App
Effective date: 25 October 2026 Last updated: 25 October 2026
These terms cover the r/aircanada Community Statistics App (the "App") and the reports, summaries and figures it produces (together, the "Service"). The Privacy Policy, published alongside these terms, explains how the App handles information and forms part of these terms.
1. Who provides the Service
The App is operated by a volunteer moderator of the Reddit community r/aircanada (the "Operator"), acting in a personal capacity. The App is installed on r/aircanada through Reddit's Developer Platform and runs under Reddit's Developer Terms and the Devvit Rules. The App is not made, run or endorsed by Reddit, Inc., by Air Canada or by any airline, and none of them is responsible for it.
The moderator team of r/aircanada as a group does not operate the App. Being a moderator of r/aircanada does not make a person responsible for the App, its output or anything done with it. Responsibility for the App rests with the Operator alone.
2. Who these terms apply to
- Community members of r/aircanada: the App records public activity on the community as described in the Privacy Policy. Participating in r/aircanada does not make you a user of the Service and does not require you to accept these terms; the Privacy Policy describes your rights.
- Authorised viewers: people the Operator has individually authorised to see reports and summaries. By accessing the Service you accept these terms.
3. What the Service is
The Service produces counts, trends, summaries and topic groupings about public discussion on r/aircanada and about moderation activity there. It is a moderation and community-understanding tool. It is not a complaints channel, not a customer-service channel for any airline, not a source of official statements by Air Canada or by Reddit, and not a substitute for reading the community itself.
4. Using the Service as an authorised viewer
If you have been authorised to view the Service:
- Your access is personal and may not be shared, and may be withdrawn at any time without notice.
- You may use what you see only for the purposes described in the Privacy Policy: understanding the community and its moderation.
- You may not use the Service to identify, profile, contact, target, rank, harass or take action against any individual member of the community, and you may not attempt to re-identify anyone from aggregated figures.
- You may not copy, extract, scrape, sell, license or redistribute data from the Service, or use any of it to train, fine-tune or improve any artificial intelligence or machine learning model.
- You may not use the Service for advertising, marketing to individuals, or any commercial purpose beyond what the Operator has expressly permitted in writing.
- You must comply with Reddit's User Agreement and Reddit's rules on the use of content, which continue to apply to anything the Service shows you.
5. Content belongs to its authors
Posts and comments on Reddit belong to the people who wrote them. The Service holds copies only to produce the figures and summaries described above, and blanks them when Reddit reports a deletion or removal. Nothing in these terms transfers any rights in community content to the Operator or to any viewer.
6. Accuracy and limits of the Service
The Service is provided as is and as available. Figures reflect what the App could collect at the time it ran, which has known limits: collection started on a specific date and covers nothing earlier; Reddit listings are capped; content posted and deleted between collection runs is never seen; and summaries and topic groupings are produced automatically and may be wrong. The Operator makes no promise that the Service is accurate, complete, current, uninterrupted or fit for any particular purpose, and may change, suspend or discontinue it at any time.
7. No responsibility
To the fullest extent permitted by law:
- The Operator, the moderators of r/aircanada, Reddit, Inc., Air Canada and any hosting provider are not liable for any loss, damage, cost or decision arising from the Service or from reliance on anything it produces, whether direct, indirect, incidental or consequential.
- Where liability cannot be excluded, it is limited to the amount you paid for the Service, which is nothing.
- Moderation decisions on r/aircanada are made by moderators under the community's rules; the Service does not make them and is not responsible for them.
Nothing in these terms limits any right you have under the Privacy Policy or under law that cannot be limited by agreement.
8. Changes to these terms
Changes are posted on this page with a new "Last updated" date. Continued access to the Service after a change means you accept the changed terms. Material changes are also announced in a post on r/aircanada.
9. Ending access
The Operator may end or suspend any viewer's access at any time, and may uninstall the App from r/aircanada at any time, which destroys the Reddit-side copy of the data. Sections 4 to 7 continue to apply after access ends.
10. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the Province of Ontario and the federal laws of Canada that apply there. Any dispute is heard in the courts of Ontario, unless a law that applies to you gives you the right to bring it elsewhere.
11. Contact
Send a message to the moderators of r/aircanada through Reddit modmail (reddit.com/message/compose?to=/r/aircanada) with "Statistics App" in the subject. Requests about the App are handled by the Operator.
